Meet George, a Harbour Volunteer

speech-marksI have been a voluntary member of Harbour since 2014 and have seen the service develop significantly over the last 2 years. Lots of changes have been made since 2014 and it’s nice to see the development of the service in a positive manner. Since being enrolled under the new volunteer program in November, I have been working as part of the duty and intake advice team. Developing a range of skills and building up my knowledge of the service has been a key part of my training with Harbour. I am very lucky to be surrounded by a variety of skilled workers from different departments, who are not only informative but inspiring. The guidance from my colleagues, along with the support from my supervisor and manager has made me confident in working the needle exchange, assessing clients and handling my own caseload. Here at Harbour, I not only feel trusted but respected by fellow staff members for the work I do. I’m very proud to be part of this service.speech-marks2
