We offer a minimum of 2 hour-long 1:1 sessions consisting of:
alcohol education, health information, working on motivation to change, setting goals for reduction of drinking and/or referral to other services e.g. housing, benefits, health services etc.
We offer 6 hour-long 1:1 sessions over 12 weeks consisting of: care co-ordination plus all of the above in Brief Intervention and referral, if necessary, for additional services e.g. alcohol detoxification.
Community (Home) Detox – a medically assisted withdrawal from alcohol which takes place in your own home and is overseen by a qualified nurse using medication prescribed by your own GP. You will need to have someone around to support/check on you during this one week period.
Residential Detox – an alcohol detox in a residential setting with 24 hour nursing cover which includes attendance at group sessions and 1:1 counselling.
Drinking alcohol can be a way of coping with many of the problems we face in life, e.g. relationship issues, loss, trauma, illness, financial difficulties, employment/work, emotional problems, anxiety, self-confidence, the list is endless.
Whatever the issue, Harbour can help by sign-posting you to the appropriate external services to support and help you learn the skills you need to tackle your problems, e.g. structured day programmes, Adult Social Care, carer’s assessments, housing, benefits, counselling services etc.
